With millions of users now online, communicating science, and creating awareness on climate change issues have become extremely effective using platforms like websites and social media mediums of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. We have developed web portals that provide information about science and scientific research/ expeditions. Also, content, like short videos and photo stories is regularly developed to suit the social media platforms.
Film Screening
Films and photographs are powerful tools not just to communicate science, but also to create awareness about the scientific research being done and raise relevant issues that concern us. Screening of films in schools, colleges, and festivals are regularly undertaken. Most of these films are in the Public domain for free download and distribution.
School and College Outreach Programs
One great way of getting students interested in science is to trigger their minds when they are young. I do spend a great deal of time visiting the schools and colleges across the country and conducting popular talks on science and expedition, sharing my experience and also highlighting the interesting research undertaken in the country.
Science Filmmaking workshops
Films and Photographs engage us visually and emotionally. By incorporating science themes into films, there is a potential to open new dimensions to scientific ideas, and interests and at the same time inspire the audience to further engage in a broader discussion of science itself. In this regard, I have been conducting several science filmmaking workshops on a regular basis, trying to get more and more enthusiasts into the art of scientific documentation.
